I'm trying to pull together some historical perspectives on blogging - part of that has involved reading Stephen Duncombe's 97 book on zines - v useful - need to get together my notes on it for next Wednesday. But it strikes me there's some interesting links to be made to Matt Locke's post about the way people used scrapbooks to cope with media overload (lots of new newspapers and magazines) in the nineteenth century - he refs Ellen Gruber Garvey's essay in 'New Media 1740 - 1915' - wonder if the library's got that one.
